On January 13, 1985, with the help of Akron Children’s Hospital, 140 local McDonald’s® restaurants, and countless volunteers, the Ronald McDonald House of Akron opened its doors Since then, the 20 bedrooms at Ronald McDonald House have been home to over 240,000 people from around the state and around the world. In those 26 years, Ronald McDonald House has taken care of families so they can concentrate on one thing: their children. Even after 26 years the mission remains the same: to care for the people who stay at our House. We welcome you to help us celebrate our past and our future. We are “The House that Love Built.”®
Changes at Our House!
If you have visited our House lately, you may have seen a new face! Meet Beth Plazak, our new Family Service Manager! Beth plays an important role helping the many families that come through our House each week. She has also taken on the role of our Volunteer Coordinator! Welcome Beth! We are so happy to have you.
As 2012 rolled in, so did a new year for the Ronald McDonald House of Akron's Board of Trustees. This year, we have a new Board President, Heather Jalbert. While Heather has been on the board and involved with the House for a number of years, this is her first year as President. Congratulations to Heather and we look forward to the next year!
