What We Do

The Ronald McDonald House of Akron was founded by families for the purpose of providing a temporary house for those who have loved ones at Akron Children’s Hospital.  Many times when an overnight stay in the hospital is required, it can turn into weeks and months.  Our House provides a place for the families of the sick children to conduct the basic necessities of daily life.  It is a place to sleep, a place to shower and a place for a hot meal.

In addition to providing them with the somewhere to conduct these simple daily ativities, the Ronald McDonald House of Akron provides a place for families to recuperate after a long day or night at the hospital and a place to help them begin to heal after a tragic event.  By removing worries such as: where they will stay, how much will it cost for a hotel and where can they find food, our House allows them to focus on what is most important - the recovery and healing of the sick child.  It is through generous donations and volunteer's time and spirit that our House is able to help the families in their time of need.
