Keeping Tabs on Pop

The Ronald McDonald House of Akron reestablished the Pop Tab Collection Program in 2009.  Since then, we have collected 7,168 pop tabs! Once collected, these pop tabs are sold to a regional scrap metal dealer for recycling.  The money received from this program is then used to provide additional support for the operation of the House.

How to Participate?
It easy! The next time you finish a can of pop, soup or anything similar, pull the tab and drop it into a storage container.  Fun, adorable Pop Tab Collection Houses are available for you to use and store your tabs.  Once you have finished collecting your pop tabs, bring them to the Ronald McDonald House of Akron and a staff member or volunteer will be ready to collect your tabs!
Who Can Help?

Anyone can help collect pop tabs.

  • Collect tabs at home - This is a great program for children to learn the concept of charity and giving and can be a fun and simple learning experience for the whole family.
  • Collect tabs at school – Schools are a great place to collect tabs and promote fundraising and recycling at every age.  Have competitions between classes and see who can collect the most tabs.
  • Collect tabs at work – Collecting tabs at your place of employment can be a good source of work place philanthropy.  Place a Pop Tab Collection house in the company kitchen and watch it fill up.
  • Collect tabs in your dorm, fraternity, sorority or college house – With all that studying comes man cans of pop to keep you caffeinated.  Why not save the tabs and help families in need?
